Chef Mervat Dessouki The Story of A Chocolate Consultant
I learned the craft from its masters and became a master at making happiness, I am a "chocolate and sweets consultant"... This is how Mrs. Mervat Dessouki describes herself after a long love story with chocolate as a lover, learner, then professional and trainer.
Mervat says: "Since I started this profession, my life has been filled with joy. I offer the chocolates I make with love on all happy occasions, such as weddings, success parties, and graduation parties. I provide them with chocolate, and they provide me with love and happiness. I also feel joy when I teach people how to create joy and happiness."
She says: "I am a graduate of the Academy of Arts. I have been married for 30 years and have traveled to several countries around the world. I wanted to specialize in an artistic field and chose chocolate making because of my intense love for it. I was exposed to obstructions and failures, but I tried repeatedly until I was able to create my own field. I kept searching for the best academy to teach the art of chocolate making in Belgium and England, and I learned in the largest food institutions, including France. Japan, England, and Mexico.
When I returned to Egypt, there was no such thing as a "chocolate chef." There was only a "pastry chef." I was the first to create this job title, "chocolate chef." She describes her career: "I didn't just work in the industry, but I also innovated the traditional packaging of chocolate, and I began to invent new formats in various ways, such as chocolate coloring.
Mervat succeeded in establishing her own company in 2012, despite the significant economic challenges at the time. She continued because she believed in her dream, and she was able to establish a training center that trains chefs in all aspects of chocolate making.
The chocolate chef reports that her greatest joy in training was when she trained women in collaboration with the National Council for Women and the United Nations, achieving amazing success stories.
Mervat, based on her extensive experience, believes that women are like chocolate. To produce quality chocolate, we must understand its raw materials and how to handle and care for them.
