Upon the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, King Albert II awarded Mr. Sherif Mahmoud El Sirgany - Head of Jewellery & Diamond Trade Division in the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and Board Member & Treasurer of the Egyptian Belgian Business Association (EBBA) - a royal decree on June 29th, 2007 Commander Degree of Order of Leopold, in recognition of the services he provided to elevate the profession of characterization and documentation of diamond.
During the years 2000 to 2007, Mr. Sherif Mahmoud el Sirgany braught the two Belgians institutes (IGI & HRD) for teaching, learning, and training of 150 Egyptians on the characterization and documentation of diamonds, granting them certification of characterization and documentation of diamonds. It was the first time to award such certificates in Egypt.
King Albert II granted this award for the services provided to Belgium, noting that this award is the highest honor granted by Belgium.
