Mr. Ahmed Farag Saudi - First Undersecretary of the Ministry and head of the Customs Department &
   Mr. Tarek Farrag - First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of Real Estate Tax Authority
   Feb. 21st, 2012.

On the 21st of February, EBBA held a seminar with Mr. Ahmed Farag Saudi - First Undersecretary of the Ministry and head of the Customs Department & Mr. Tarek Farrag - First Undersecretary of the Ministry and Head of Real Estate Tax Authority.
The event took place at The Egyptian Automobile & Touring Club in Cairo, where Mr. Attia - Chairman of EBBA - welcomed the attendees and presented Mr. Ahmed Farag Saudi. The later then started his lecture about the situation of Customs in view of current events, and explained that the trade operations - exports and imports - increased after the revolution, contrary to what was expected.
He referred to the modification form and the tariff even in line with the tariff applicable in the world, as well as the preparation of an organizational structure of interest, such as improving the conditions of workers, the development of buildings, construction, as well as incentives and rewards for employees, etc., the things that had the greatest impact on the stability of the Authority.
He also announced that the Authority is interested in applying modern technologies and encouraging employees for postgraduate studies to improve their efficiencies.
The attendees expressed their thanks to Mr. Saudi and their emphasis on improved service during the past few years.
After the end of Mr. Ahmed Farag Saudi’s speech, Mr. Rafik Attia gave the word to Mr. Tarek Farrag. The later explained that the estate tax law has been released in October 2008, but never been applied to date. Instead, the currently applied law was issued in October 1954, which has been updated to the current law. All defects are to be avoided in the new law.
Meantime, he pointed to the need to return the estate tax to citizens in the form of services such as street lighting, pave roads and cleanliness, etc.
He also noted that the Authority is currently doing a map of Egypt to be developed to identify and develop a national number for each property all over the Republic areas, so as to adjust and complete current information and to make it easier to reveal the cases of tax evasion, which is amounting to about 45%.
After finishing his speech, discussions started with the gentlemen members and the guests who responded to all the questions from the attendees, this thing that made it quite a fruitful event.
Seminar and Presentation with Mr. Sherif El Sirgany - EBBA Board Member
   March 24th, 2012.

On the 24th of March 2012 At 7:00 pm, EBBA organized a seminar with Mr. Sherif El Sirgany. The event took place at Marriott Hotel in Zamalek, where Eng. Ibrahim Moustapha –EBBA Board member & Secretary General - welcomed the attendance and wished all a lovely evening, then gave the word to Mr. Rafik Attia – Chairman of EBBA - who in turn welcomed the honorable guests and the audience and Mr. Sherif El Sirgany - Board member & President of the Association of the Global Jewelry Designers. The later then started his lecture about the gems, and Diamonds in particular, which is considered the most precious.
In his commentary, he has elaborated about how diamond is formed in nature, different types, the largest producing countries, methods of carving and polishing, and the factors that affect rating and consequently value, namely color - purity - weight – and shape.
He explained how refining a stone represents 80% of its value, as it is the hardest precious stone on earth, due to the fact that it is composed of perfectly crystalized amorphous carbon that went under great pressure and high temperature far beneath the ground.
He also pointed out that honesty and trust are the most important elements in the trading profession of jewelry and gems. He also revealed that in the modern times, a device is used to distinguish between Natural and Artificial diamonds, mentioning that General Electric Company produced a device that can actually produce artificial diamonds.
He illustrated some models of different diamond stones on the screen & responded to all questions that arose by attendees in details.
Afterwards, his daughter presented another speech about other types of gems, such as Sapphire, Ruby. She also responded to questions from audience.
Next, his son made some notes about natural and artificial pearl, then replied to all the questions arose by the audience. Finally, the attendees went for dinner.
The event ended at 11:00 pm.

Seminar with Prof. Dr. Amr Bradawl - Executive Manager of the Egyptian Communications Authority
   May 21st, 2012.

On the 21st of May 2012 at 7:00 pm, EBBA organized a seminar for the members with Prof. Dr. Amr Bradawl - Executive Manager of the Egyptian Communications Authority . The event took place at Marriot Zamalek Hotel in Cairo.
During the event, Mr. Rafik Attia - Chairman of EBBA - welcomed him & the Attendance and wished all a nice and fruitful evening.
Dr. Amr Bradawl carried on with his lecture by defining important terms such as the Communications Authority, areas of work, an overview of the global market and the development that took place, the challenges and opportunities, latest developments that were carried out by the authority during the past few years and its current and future trends, etc.
He stressed on all the mentioned elements using video and audio illustrations. He then answered the various questions of attendees.
At the end of the lecture, attendance thanked Dr. Amr Bradawl for the fruitful seminar and value information, and then everyone went for dinner. The event ended at 11:00 pm.
